Fruit Iceblocks

Our Inquiry this term is Fuelled for Life so we have been learning about healthy eating. Every Friday, Room 1 and Room 2 have been making a healthy snack. This week we made fruit iceblocks!

We blended fruit and milk in a blender then froze them in ice cube trays with popsicle sticks. Then we put them in the freezer until the next day.

They were delicious!

Reihaneh adds fruit
I'olani adds milk
Elisiva adds fruit
Sofele blends it in the blender
Sterling blends in the blender
I'olani is careful carrying the icecube trays
Delicious!

Bullying-Free NZ Week

It was Bullying Free week so we did some activities to learn more about how we can help others and be kind. We did an activity to talk about the effect that words can have on others.

Miss Park gave us 2 apples that looked the same. To one apple, we said not very nice things to it, such as - "You are an ugly apple." "I don't like you." To the other apple, we said nice things such as "You are beautiful." "I like you."

When we cut them open, we found that the apple we said not very nice things to was all bruised on the inside while the apple we said nice things to was nice looking on the inside.

We talked about how it is the same for people, if you say unkind things to people, they will hurt on the inside even though we might not be able to see it on the outside.

Phoenix says nice things to the apple
Reihaneh says nice things to the apple
Sterling says nice things to the apple

Nice, happy apple
Sad, bruised apple

ANZAC Assembly

We had our special ANZAC assembly this week to commemorate the soldiers that died for us in the war. We made a special poppy wreath and we learnt a poem. Well done to Lolita, Chicago and Sarah who did a great job reciting the poem at the assembly!

ANZAC Biscuits

We have been learning about ANZAC Day. ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps. Today we made ANZAC biscuits with our buddy class! Soldiers would get sent ANZAC biscuits from their families because they would last a long time.

It was delicious!
